This French antique mantle clock is 20.5" in height and 13" in width, and has a depth of 8.5", all weighing close to 50 pounds.

This mantle clock possesses beautiful fancy gold pierced hands, has an enameled dial with black Roman numerals and Arabic 5 minute markers, and is signed "F. Berthoud - Paris" with a beaded brass bezel. The round French brass antique mantle clock movement has a time and bell strike on the half hour and hour. It also features a stunning jeweled pallet Brocot escapement, count wheel strike mechanism, which is signed "A.D. Maugin". The regulator style glass case, with half inch beveled glass on all four sides, also possesses a fabulous looking starburst pendulum bob with a maiden's head. This magnificent antique French masterpiece mantle clock made in the mid 1800s, by Jacob Petit is a most beautiful antique clock for those who want serious beauty. The clock sits on a matching stand and is 20.5 inches high and 13 inches wide at the base. It has a lovely gold face with fine circular etchings all over and the dial is signed Renauld-Paris. Jacob Petit (1796-1868) was the greatest porcelain maker of mid 19th century France . A self-taught painter, he launched a modest porcelain manufacturing business in 1830. By 1839 Petit he enjoyed great success. Petit had a highly original style, full of fancy and very eclectic, based primarily on the rococo. The works of Jacob Petit gave rise to numerous imitations from various manufactures. It is indeed very rare to find a Jacob Petit antique clock, especially one of such exceptional condition and beauty. An Elegant antique French Egyptian revival mantel clock. The magnificent statue on top of the clock is of a winged Sphinx with a man's head. The clock is 14 inches wide and 17 inches high. The exotic dial also possesses a pair of very nice French hands. The French movement is eight day with a bell strike and this very stylish antique mantle clock dates from the late 1800s to just turn of the last century. Price: $4,500.

Unique French Ball Clock

This is a wonderful antique French figure ball mantel clock, primarily made of metal with gilded bronze around the ball. It is a highly unique and decorative clock by Samuel Marti and is from the late 1800s and in overall excellent original condition. Interestingly this is a Samuel Marti pendulum movement with gong, as this style case often has a lever movement, and even more often a bell strike. The diameter of the ball is 5 inches. Access to the movement is through a hinged door in the rear and when closed it forms a full globe. Ht 12.5 inches. Samuel Marti et Cie were well known makers in Paris from the mid eighteenth century. Impressive "Raingo Fres" Ormolu Mantel Clock

An Antique French mantel clock with marble and decorative ormolu, circa early to mid 1800's in the Louis XVI style. Bronze Ormolu figures on each side of the clock tower, with ormolu gilt on all the bronze parts. The white marble base is excellent. The clock is 14" wide, 13" high, a very impressive and stunning clock. It has bowed and beveled glass in the bronze sash and a bowed porcelain dial with blue painted numerals and numbers. The dial is signed, "Raingo Fres, Paris", an important French mantel clock maker from 1829-62. The gold hands are delicate and nicely pierced. The clock has a round 8 day movement, silk thread suspension for the pendulum, outside count, bell strike, is signed the same as the dial, "Raingo Fres / Paris", with a serial number on the movement, "2325" and is the same as the number on the pendulum. The Ormolu is by the famous French "bronzier" Picard. The fancy back cover is a beveled glass in a bronze sash. A beautiful clock. Price: $12,500.

This truly amazing antique mantle clock was made in France around 1830 by the famous Japy Freres company, founded in 1801 by the sons of Frederic Japy at Beaucourt, and becoming one of the best known makers of this type of extraordinary antique mantle clocks. This clock is in excellent antique condition and has had the mechanism fully and professionally cleaned, oiled and serviced so as to be running in perfect time. It has an eight day mechanism and it strikes on a silvered bell on the half and full hours. The movement has an early Japy Freres number of 319 and has the original pendulum. The clock measures approx: 20.1 inches (51 cm) tall, 12.2 inches (31 cm) width and 6.7 inches (17 cm) deep. Price: $7,500.
