Impressive "Raingo Fres" Ormolu Mantel Clock

An Antique French mantel clock with marble and decorative ormolu, circa early to mid 1800's in the Louis XVI style. Bronze Ormolu figures on each side of the clock tower, with ormolu gilt on all the bronze parts. The white marble base is excellent. The clock is 14" wide, 13" high, a very impressive and stunning clock. It has bowed and beveled glass in the bronze sash and a bowed porcelain dial with blue painted numerals and numbers. The dial is signed, "Raingo Fres, Paris", an important French mantel clock maker from 1829-62. The gold hands are delicate and nicely pierced. The clock has a round 8 day movement, silk thread suspension for the pendulum, outside count, bell strike, is signed the same as the dial, "Raingo Fres / Paris", with a serial number on the movement, "2325" and is the same as the number on the pendulum. The Ormolu is by the famous French "bronzier" Picard. The fancy back cover is a beveled glass in a bronze sash. A beautiful clock. Price: $9,500.

Empire Portico

This is a beautiful antique French mantel clock circa 1878 in the Empire style . It has just been serviced and is in fine running condition. It strikes a silver bell on the hour and once on the half. This fine French mantel clock has a Japy Freres 14 day movement. The eagle sits on the top without being attached to the clock and may be placed elswhere should you so desire. The clock stands 25" tall and 9 3/4" wide. Japy Freres was a famous French clock maker of the time and a winner of the prestigious Medal D' Oro in France. SOLD

P. Japy Clock With E. Picault Statue

An Antique French mantel clock with marble base with handsome statue by well know French clockmakers, "P. Japy & Cie". Good marble case with no breaks or chips, with cast feet on the bottom and a bronze statue on top with the total height of 20". The statue is signed, "E. Picault", a very well known French sculptor whose works can command prices in the thousands. The clock has a one piece porcelain dial with painted numerals and exquisite French hands. The numerals were painted with a special flourish. There is beveled glass in the sash and an 8 day round French movement, outside count wheel, and bell strike. Metal backdoor, hinged, perforated with cloth covering. SOLD

Large French Figure Clock

This is a wonderful antique French figure mantel clock, primarily made of metal with two black marble pieces. The clock is resting on a flat piece of marble and the large piece in the bottom center that has incised designs. The designs are very ornate and gold color filled. The metal parts of the clock are cast. This clocks features a man seated on the top of the clock.The case overall is dark with age and very attractive with its unique and lovely reddish caste. There is a beveled glass and sash over the one piece black marble dial which is incised with gold color filled numerals, gold hands, and signed "Baudon a Tours". Many of the better unsigned clocks were by Marti as we think this one is. There is beveled glass over the rear opening and the clock has a French round eight day movement and bell strike. Size is 21 x 14.5 inches. SOLD.

Bronze And Enamel Miniature

A rare and mini sized antique French Mantel clock with a time only movement that is watch size, sitting in a canister with a hinged back door and glass over the porcelain dial. The movement is wound and set with a tiny key. The porcelain dial and the thin filigreed hands are exquisite. The dial is signed, "Empire City Watch Co.". The clock sits inside an Empire four post round canister with four paw feet underneath and a Roman soldier resting on top. Below the canister and going all around it are beautiful hand painted porcelain panels. The turned columns, base, top, and even the hinged back cover, are all covered with pretty designs. Size is 3 x 6.25 inches. Price: $1,800.

Boulle Style Tortoiseshell & Bronze

A French "Boulle" style tortoiseshell mantel clock. All of the tortoiseshell is present, but there are some minor cracks due to age as is typical of these clocks. It is decorated all over with painted gilt metal ornaments. It has bowed and beveled glass in the sash, with an unique and pretty dial, bowed on the time track, with pretty French hands. The hinged back door is shaped like the back of the case. It has a French round 8 day movement and strikes a nickel bell. The movement and pendulum share the same serial number. This case is 14" high and all original. Price: $1,200.
