This magnificent antique carriage clock possesses pyramid banding, finely painted dial with blue Roman numerals above similar second hand, open escapement, alarm and chiming mechanisms. It features a strike and repeat movement chiming on a coiled gong.. This carriage clock is in fine working order and comes from the collection of the late and noted Leonard F. Rich looking and fancy French eigh day carriage clock with time, chime, and repeat function, in an Anglaise style case, ca 1890. This is a stunning looking 6½" high case with a bowed glass front and columns on all four corners. The movement is running and striking as it should,and the repeat function is operating properly.The case has five beveled glasses, with the front having a large bow. All glass is perfect. This antique carriage clock possess a great looking dial, silver dial ring with indented and black painted numerals. The inner dial is very fancy brass or gold gilt, and the hands are original. French eight day chiming antique carriage clock, ca 1880. The brass Anglaise style case has the appearance of being bowed due to its unique structure. The top and base are bowed on all four sides but the glasses are flat. The case sits on four turned feet, with sculpted handle, and the case is 6" high. All glass is perfect. The movement is running and striking the gong on the hours. It has a perfect porcelain dial with sharp black paint and the hands are correct on this beautiful chiming carriage clock. SOLD.
This is a commanding and large, 7" high French eight day antique carriage clock, with time, chime,and repeat functions,with a Corniche style case, ca 1890. The bright brass case is 7" high, complete and original except for a replaced balance. It has five beveled glasses, with oval atop and all are perfect. There is a porcelain dial ring, fancy brass inner dial, and original hands. The movement is running briskly, and striking the hours on a large iron coil gong. The repeat function is working properly. Superb large 19th century gilt brass French carriage clock by Henri Jacot, one of the finest carriage clock makers of the period. The Corniche style case is in heavy cast brass throughout, finished in a rich and virtually unblemished gilt. The movement is all clean and bright as originally intended, shown off through the original thick bevelled glass and in genuinely outstanding condition. Plates and dial signed to inside surfaces by Jacot circa 1880 with the Jacot arrow and script on the backplate.. It chimes the hours and half hours. It is a classic Corniche clock, glazed to all four sides plus an oval top window and hinged bale handle. The clock has just been completely dismantled, professionally cleaned, reassembled and serviced. The glass is original, thick and bevelled, just one tiny shallow nick to a corner of the rear glass, very difficult to see. The lever platform escapement is not original, but a later replacement made by Gorge of Switzerland. This is a substantial clock and excluding handle, stands 5.25 inches high, 3.75 inches wide a 3.25 inches deep. It weighs just short of 5 pounds. SOLD
